TDBA Dirt Bike Training Tours at Famous Reading Outdoors

Right after “That was awesome!”, here’s what a first time TDBA student typically says at the end of a lesson: “How can I get more training, and where can I ride?”

We’ve got a great answers for both of those questions. That’s because TDBA has teamed up with Andy Bloss, a very experienced moto guide who will be leading TDBA training sessions at Famous Reading Outdoors.

If you don’t know, Famous Reading Outdoors is a huge dirt bike trail network in eastern Pennsylvania. FRO sits on 20,000 acres(!) of private land that its owner, a coal mining company, has opened up for dirt bike and ATV riding. As you might imagine with that much land, FRO has it all: wide open spaces, tight wooded single track, hills of all sizes . . . you name it.

Andy Bloss, our new TDBA coach, has received great reviews as an FRO guide over the past two years. Andy has also raced a ton of enduros, hare scrambles, and other off-road events in his career. We’re truly honored to have Andy as part of the TDBA family.

So what’s a TDBA session at FRO look like? Well, critically, it’s a lot more than just a guided tour. That’s because TDBA sessions at FRO also incorporate real technique training from Andy and others. So you not only get the security of riding the trails with an experienced guide, you get to level up your skills as you go.

Who Is This For? If you’re brand new to dirt biking, you’re not quite ready for our FRO Training Tour.  You should take our Dirt Bike Foundations Course first. But if you’ve had any formal dirt bike training (including TDBA training, of course), or if you’ve got more than about 10-15 hours of dirt bike experience, then you’re good to go.  Please provide details about your riding experience when you submit the form below.

What is the Price? We don’t post our prices online, because a lot depends on what you’re looking for. We tailor our classes to your experience, your interests, your group, and your needs. Once we have a better idea of what you’re looking for, we’ll talk prices.

We hold FRO sessions only on weekend days throughout the riding season. Here is our FRO schedule for March through May of 2024. We’ll post more dates for the rest of the season soon.

  • March 2, 2024 – Saturday
  • March 3, 2024 – Sunday

More things to know: Yes, you can use one of TDBA’s loaner dirt bikes for your ride at FRO. And yes, you can ride without a FRO pass if you come as a TDBA guest (normally day passes are not available at FRO).  Classes run about 5-6 hours, beginning at FRO at 10:00 am.

Sand School

If you’re a dirt biker but you haven’t tried riding on sand, you don’t know how much fun you’re missing out on.  Or maybe you’ve given riding sand a shot, and found out the hard way that riding sand isn’t what you expected (well, ok, it’s actually the soft way, but you know what we mean).

Fear not!  TDBA is here for you. Sand riding is its own thing, and we can help you get the skills you need so that sand goes from something you dread to something you love.  We offer one or two day instructional sand sessions in the famous New Jersey Pine Barrens, where the sand is soft and the riding is great.  Note that bikes need to be registered and plated to ride in the Pine Barrens.  We have a limited number of plated loaner bikes for you to use, or of course you can use your own.  Also, it probably goes without saying but please be aware that we only use terrain in the Pine Barrens where it is legal for dirt bikes to ride.

Who Is This For?  We don’t recommend sand for people who are brand new to dirt biking.  If that’s you, you should take our Dirt Bike Foundations Course first. But if you’ve had any formal dirt bike training (including TDBA training, of course), or if you’ve got more than about 10-15 hours of dirt bike experience, then you’re good to go.  Please provide details about your riding experience when you submit our form.

What is the Price? We don’t post our prices online, because a lot depends on what you’re looking for. We tailor our classes to your experience, your interests, your group, and your needs. Once we have a better idea of what you’re looking for, we’ll talk prices.

I’m interested!  Sounds great, right?  To register for TDBA Sand School, or to ask questions, just click the Sign Up button and fill out the simple form to get started, or just click here. We’ll be in touch right away (within 24 hours) once we receive your submission.

TDBA Dirt Bike Tour at Hatfield-McCoy
Wednesday, September 18 – Saturday, September 21, 2024

Join us for a unique dirt bike experience, with both first class training and expert guide services, at the legendary Hatfield-McCoy riding trail system in West Virginia.  If you’ve heard about Hatfield-McCoy (the place, not the feud), you know that it’s an East Coast dirt bike mecca.  Hatfield-McCoy manages over 1 million acres (you read that right) of land across 12 different trail systems.  The great dirt bike riding is endless.

The TDBA trip, like all our trips, combines a guided tour with skills training on the trails each day — the instruction doesn’t get more real world than this.   For this trip, you’ll be staying with the group at a great AirBnB specifically built out for moto vacationing.  Your fee includes lodging, but not meals (you have the choice to go out with the group, bring something back, whip something up yourself at the AirBnB . . . ).  Note that this is a dirt bike trip, so no ADV bikes allowed on this one.

Minimum Skill Level: This trip is appropriate for people who are at or beyond what we call the “experienced beginner” level.  An experienced beginner is someone who has  been riding less than two years but has done at least 25 hours of dirt riding over the 12 months prior to the trip (if you took our Foundations dirt riding course without any prior experience but don’t have 25 hours in, talk to us about how you can level up your skills with additional TDBA training so that you can join us on the Hatfield-McCoy trip).

Fee: $1,750 (includes 5 nights stay).
