Adventure Bike Foundations Course

Adventure Bike Lessons for Beginners

Our Adventure Bike Foundations Course lets new ADV riders gain the skills required to manage bigger, heavier adventure and dual sport bikes on off-road terrain. Interested in seeing the world from a motorcycle on trails, dirt roads, sand, gravel, or whatever terrain gets thrown your way? Then this course is for you. We teach you the skills that are essential for navigating varied conditions on a big bike. The curriculum for this course comes from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Adventurebike Ridercourse course.

Who is this course for?

  • You are brand new to adventure motorcycle riding, or
  • You are just starting out with off-road motorcycle riding (less than 25 hours spent riding a motorcycle off-road) and you have not had any formal adventure motorcycle training.
  • You must have a valid motorcycle rider's license issued by a US state.
  • You must have your own adventure or dual sport motorcycle, which will be the bike you use when you take our course.

What will we do?  This course will take you through a series of on-range exercises that will give you what you need to know to become a solid adventure motorcycle rider.  The exercises are specifically geared toward techniques specific to riding bigger ADV bikes, and cover things like clutch and throttle control, braking, turning, body position, obstacles, and many other aspects of adventure bike riding.  For those who are ready, at the end of the course we'll do some riding together through our property's grounds.

All Foundations classes are one full day. For Foundations classes, you must bring a DOT certified helmet, over the ankle boots (motorcycle boots not required), long pants (no sweats), a long sleeve shirt, gloves, and goggles.
